Researchers at the University of WV ran a study on the effects of Iyengar Yoga on people who have high risk health factors such as being sedentary, overweight, and pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. After an 8 week intense Yoga therapy course for over fifty people who had no previous Yoga experience, over eighty percent of them reported that they had better mobility and physical functioning while they were also much calmer. Of the people who participated, even those who didn’t think they could participate had increased benefits to their overall health.
